Armand Rego

Software engineer
Armand is Director and Lead Software Engineer at Weird Sheep Labs, where he specializes in designing and implementing event-driven, serverless architectures on AWS for clients ranging from legal and fintech startups to scientific R&D institutes.

Armand holds a Masters in Engineering from Keble College, Oxford (2018), specializing in computational modelling of complex biomedical systems. He previously spent three years at the UK Ministry of Defence developing analysis tools for laser thermal effects and aircraft performance modeling. He then architected the entire software infrastructure stack for a leading offshore energy consultancy.

Following a serverless-first philosophy and infrastructure-as-code principles, Armand has delivered transformative solutions at Weird Sheep Labs including a document processing system capable of handling tens of thousands of documents per hour, and a highly scalable, cost-effective batch plotting tool for academia that processes terabytes of data. Beyond technical delivery, he drives business growth initiatives and leads internal special projects, including native app development.

As an AWS Community Builder, Armand contributes to the engineering community through open-source projects and technical writing. When not architecting cloud solutions in Python and TypeScript, you'll find him at the gym, training for his next half-marathon, or networking at local tech meetups where he enjoys exchanging ideas with fellow engineers.
